SEINE RIVER BOAT TOUR

Vedettes en Pont Neuf

In the middle of the bridge, Pont Neuf, and down a flight of stairs to the water is the launching pier.  The one-hour guided cruise, in French and English, costs 14 Euros and well worth l’argent.  For me, this river boat tour was a great value, lovely time on the water, and gave the sites a different perspective while letting my feet have a break from walking everywhere all day.

DIY TRAVEL PLAN

The best DIY item I brought was the free downloaded Audio Tours for Paris and Outside Paris at Rick Steves’ travel website and the free app which I had on my Android phone.  Even in “airplane mode” (because I didn’t have an international data plan), the audio pieces worked just fine.  Lasting between 15 and 50 minutes, I played and re-played them many times.  For example, I followed his Louvre tour which cut me through the main attractions, I studied-up on the art before I went to locations, and I learned clever tips from his commentaries and guest speakers in the same spirit of his “back door” approach to travel in Europe.  Downloading and playing these audio tours well in advance of my trip allowed me to be better prepared once I was in Paris.
